Everyone has a tactical advantage over the player to his right. It’s the advantage of usually getting to act after that opponent. Because of this basic truth, you should often declare war on players to your right and make friends with players to your left.
Mike – Please write a blog about those selfish jerks who throw away their hands without having to do so while the rest of the guys still are playing for the pot. It is so inconsiderate because it gives those playing after them info that they will not call or reraise any future bet. Info is valuable and it should not be given free. They could also catch a runner or runner runner to actually win the pot. I know it is “legal” but it is also TERRIBLE !!!
Hi, Bill —
Thanks for making your first comment at Poker1.
I agree with you. Players should never fold out of turn if more than two players are competing for a pot. Actually, the practice IS illegal in most cardrooms.
There’s typically no penalty for the infraction, although players will sometimes be warned. If the violation is repeated, management will sometimes bar these players from the games.
